How does QR code scanning work?
A QR (Quick Response) code stores data as a 2D pattern of black and white squares. To decode it, the scanner locates the three corner "finder patterns," determines the orientation and size of the code, then reads the data modules row by row. Error correction built into the QR standard allows codes to be scanned even if partially damaged or obscured — up to 30% of the code can be missing. This tool uses the jsQR JavaScript library to perform all of this directly in your browser.
Is my image or camera feed uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your images and camera feed never leave your device — nothing is sent to JugadTools servers or any third party. Your privacy is fully protected.
Why can't my image be decoded?
Common reasons include: the QR code is blurry or too small in the image; the image is very low resolution; the QR code is at an extreme angle; there is heavy glare or shadow obscuring parts of the code; or the image contains multiple overlapping QR codes. Try taking a clearer, well-lit photo with the QR code filling most of the frame.
What types of data can a QR code contain?
QR codes can contain URLs, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses, SMS messages, Wi-Fi credentials, vCard contact information, UPI payment links, geographic coordinates, and more. This scanner will display whatever text is encoded — if it's a URL, you'll also see an "Open Link" button.
